Fees

Initial consultations

This is a one-hour meeting to discuss your case, explore your legal options, plan next steps, and assess whether our services meet your needs. We do not offer free consultations and the initial meetings are billed at the lawyer’s hourly rate.

Lawyer’s Fees

Fees for initial consultations are based on the lawyer’s hourly rate. Hourly rates are determined based on years of valuable experience. For more information on hourly rates, feel free to contact us.

We are not accepting Legal Aid Certificates at this time. To find a list of lawyers who are taking new Certificates, please refer to Legal Aid Ontario at https://www.legalaid.on.ca/lawyers/

Retainer deposit

Depending on the nature and complexity of your case, retainer deposits range from $1,000 to $5,000.

What is a retainer deposit?

A retainer deposit is a deposit of money made to the lawyer’s trust account. We ask for a retainer deposit as a condition of performing a service that you authorize. This money is kept in trust and used to ensure that the lawyer’s fees are paid after the service is rendered.

The amount of your retainer deposit will depend on the nature and complexity of the file and the work you ask us to do. Once work has been performed on your file and you are provided with an invoice, the fees from the invoice will be paid from the retainer. Once the retainer is low or runs out, we will ask you to make another deposit so that we can continue to work on your file.
